Professional Development Opportunities

ISAC’s College Access and Outreach division offers professional development opportunities throughout Illinois for counselors, mentors, and community partners who are assisting students with the college-going and financial aid process.

We offer in-person and online workshops on a variety of college access and financial aid topics. Workshops offer professionals a detailed understanding of the financial aid process and programs, and use case studies and real-life examples to provide an understanding of how to work with unique student populations. Workshop topics include how to fill out a FAFSA, financial aid eligibility, working with special student populations, and more.

ISAC awards continuing education (CEUs) and professional development (CPDUs) units to session participants at a rate of one per contact hour. To earn these, it is necessary to attend each session in its entirety and complete an ISAC evaluation form, an ISBE Evaluation Form, and Evidence of Completion at the end of each session.

Attendees will also learn about updates to the 2019-20 FAFSA and current financial aid concepts, and will be introduced to the tools and resources available at the state and federal level.
