GEAR UP (ILGU) Managers

Location Deerfield, IL

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is part of a new GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education to raise student achievement and increase access to and participation in postsecondary education within public school systems. We are hiring several Illinois GEAR UP (ILGU) Managers.   These positions reports directly to the State Director. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing relationships between ISAC and GU schools.
  • Managing relations for about 5 high schools and 5 middle schools.
  • Implementing project programs in a timely manner.
  • Conducting monthly meetings with GU schools to ensure proper services and resources are being utilized.
  • Supervising 5 ISACorps staff members and provide assistance and/or resources to personnel.
  • Updating ISACorps members regarding changes and developments related to their field work.
  • Providing support to GU schools and ISACorps staff for regional initiatives as well as large scale events.
  • Ensuring ISACorps staff adheres to GU Grant guidelines.
  • Positions will be headquarters in Deerfield with extensive travel Statewide.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Demonstrated experience and requisite education in the fields of teaching, or counseling, or student development. 
  • In-depth knowledge of higher education issues and financial aid programs and the application process, including rules and regulations governing their administration; outreach, access, and completion issues; default prevention issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISAC policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking; project management knowledge and experience; strong PC skills.
  • Strong administrative skills, including design, customer service, personnel management; and the ability to work with internal and external clients.
