Application Procedures for Nursing Education Scholarships

{ISAC Rules, Part 2749.110}

When available, applicants may access the application for Nursing Education Scholarships (NES) via the Program Applications & Status Checks area of the ISAC Student Portal. The online application has built-in edits to prevent errors, and ISAC sends immediate confirmation to the applicant’s e-mail address that the application has been received. In addition, students must submit the corresponding year’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) or, if applicable, Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid (Alternative Application) by the NES application deadline date.

The NES application period each year starts on March 1 and continues through April 30. The application must be completed and submitted each year by applicants wishing to be considered for an award, regardless of whether they may have received previous awards (renewals). To be considered for the 2024-25 academic year, the NES Application/Work Agreement/Promissory Note – along with either the 2024-25 FAFSA or the 2024-25 Alternative Application – must be submitted on or before April 30, 2024.

What's Next

After an application is submitted, the process is as follows:

  • Applicants immediately receive an e-mail confirming that their application has been received at ISAC. Application processing time may be up to 4 weeks.
  • If the application is incomplete, the applicant receives a letter from ISAC explaining the reason(s) and advising how to resolve the issue.
  • If an applicant needs to change their response(s) to any item(s) and/or update any information after the application has been submitted, they need to provide the information to ISAC as outlined in the “Changes to Application Data” section of the Students & Parents NES page.

Awarding of 2024-25 Nursing Education Scholarships is anticipated to take place later this spring.

Colleges utilize the NESP system to administer 2024-25 NES awards, including the certification and payment processing functionalities.
