Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship Program Application

The priority application consideration date for the 2018-19 MTI Scholarship Program was March 1, 2018. However, applications continue to be accepted at this time.

Complete applications received after the priority consideration application date for any academic year will be considered for the MTI Scholarship Program only if funding remains after all timely complete applicants have been awarded for that year. NOTE: The MTI Scholarship interactive application is not currently available. Please use the below links to download and print a PDF version for the appropriate academic year, and submit the completed application to ISAC.

Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver (SETTW) Program

Please note: the Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver is a program created by an Act of the Illinois General Assembly. Further action by the legislature could make changes to the program that affect the future availability of this benefit.

ISAC is no longer accepting applications for the 2018-19 Illinois SETTW Program. The 2018-19 Illinois SETTW Program priority application consideration date was March 1, 2018. Complete applications postmarked after that date are considered for the Illinois SETTW Program only if available waivers remain after all timely complete applicants have been awarded. It is anticipated that the application for the 2019-20 Illinois SETTW Program will be available at this website in mid-December of 2018. The latest information regarding this program, including awarding criteria, can be found at the "Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver (SETTW) Program" page, located under "Scholarships" in the Types of Financial Aid section.

Grant Program for Dependents of Police or Fire Officers

Effective with the 2018-19 academic year, children of disabled police or fire officers need not have been born, legally adopted or in the legal custody of the officer before the disability occurred in order to receive a grant.

If recent trends in the volume of qualified applicants and available funding continue for the 2018-19 academic year, this program may not cover full benefits for each term. The latest information regarding this program, including application deadline dates, can be found at the "Grant Program for Dependents of Police or Fire Officers" page, located under "Grants" in the Types of Financial Aid section.

Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program

Veterans' Home Medical Providers' Loan Repayment Program

ISAC is no longer accepting Veterans' Home Medical Providers' Loan Repayment Program applications for the 2019 fiscal year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019). We anticipate the application for the 2020 fiscal year (July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020) to be available to download and print from this page in July of 2019.

Illinois Teachers Loan Repayment Program

Because the Illinois Teachers Loan Repayment Program application must be submitted within six months of the date of the Notice of Federal Teacher Loan Forgiveness eligibility, we encourage you to complete and submit the 2019 fiscal year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019) application as soon as possible in order to ensure the deadline is not missed.

You will also find information regarding new rules (effective July 1, 2015) for veterans who are eligible for Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits at less than 100% (based on length of service) and choose to use those benefits during the same term that ING Grant benefits are used.

    Please be aware that a qualified applicant must notify their college of their eligibility status as soon as possible, but no later than the last scheduled date of classes for the term for which the grant is requested. It is the applicant's responsibility to obtain and submit all required documentation to allow the application to be processed within the required time. We recommend that all applicants carefully review the "Illinois Veteran Grant (IVG) Program" page, located under "Grants" in the Types of Financial Aid section, prior to completing the application.
